Celtics Cruise Past Mavericks in Game 1
Boston's Depth Proves Too Much for Dallas
Luka-Kyrie Duo Struggles
The Boston Celtics wasted no time asserting their dominance over the Dallas Mavericks in the 2024 NBA Finals, cruising to a comfortable 107-89 victory in Game 1. The Celtics' superior depth proved too much for the Mavericks, as all five starters scored in double figures.
Jaylen Brown led the way for Boston with 25 points, while Jayson Tatum added 22. Malcolm Brogdon also contributed a solid 18 points off the bench. The Celtics shot an efficient 50.6% from the field, while holding the Mavericks to just 38.9% shooting.
The Mavericks' struggles were particularly evident in their three-point shooting. The team, which led the NBA in three-pointers during the regular season, made just 6 of 29 attempts from beyond the arc (20.7%). Luka Dončić, the Mavericks' leading scorer, was held to just 18 points on 6 of 19 shooting.
